Capitol Boat Club’s
Junior Mariners Club
We are so excited to welcome your family for a boating adventure on Lake Mendota!
The ride is about three hours. To prepare, we are suggesting the following:
1. For all children ages 13 and younger, Life jackets MUST be worn when on the boat. EVERYONE is requested to remain seated while the boat is moving.
2. The Maximum number of guests is 10.
3. Use the restroom just before arriving. We will stop midway through the trip at the Daily Scoop Ice Cream shop in Memorial Union for ice cream.
We suggest eating a light meal before arriving as this can help to prevent nausea from motion sickness.
5. For questions, ask your captain!
To make your trip a great one, we recommend you pack the following:
Sun protection
Broad-spectrum sunscreen and Lip balm with high SPF
A lightweight long - sleeve shirt or sun-protective clothing for all family members when you need a break from the sun. (There is some shade on the boat)
Wide-brimmed hat and caps.
Sunglasses.
For your comfort
Insect repellent.
Wear comfortable non-slip shoes on the boat. Some kids prefer to use water socks / sandals while in the water.
Any necessary medication including allergy and anti- nausea prevention.
A change of clothes (in case you get sprayed or splashed).
Jackets, sweatshirts and a warm blanket. Temperatures on the water can be very different than on land and can drop rapidly in the evening.

Towels.
A trash bag or container to keep garbage contained and out of the water.

For fun
Swimsuits.
Games, water sports, and other activities for kids and guests.
A waterproof camera or smartphone to capture memories of your day on the water.
A phone programmed with your favorite music to play on the boat.
* Please plan on arriving approximately 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. We will greet you, assist with packing the boat, and get everyone in life jackets. The captain will review all required safety instructions and address questions.
